The best time to meditate, in my experience, is early in the morning, preferably in Brahmamuhurta. It is a period (muhurta) that begins one hour and 36 minutes before sunrise and ends 48 minutes before sunrise.

Why?

Because meditation is all about rising higher than the mind.

So, when you start meditating one hour and 36 minutes earlier than Sunrise, your body has woken up, but your mind has not.  The mind starts becoming active closer to sunrise.

All the hormones of the body start “waking” up closer to sunrise – like Adrenaline, cortisol, epinephrine, etc. – to be available for the intended activity.

So, this way, by meditating on a relatively dormant mind, you have a better chance of rising above it and better success in meditation.

Another time for meditation is  half an hour before sunset to one hour after.

And yet another time is at noon when the sun is at its peak in the sky.
