Song of Life – a poem.
Mechanical hiking is going on in Bear Mountains.
Feet are robotically moving on the bed of rustling leaves.
Hiking sticks are being propelled reflexively.
Suddenly I notice.
The mind is caught up in flimsy, nonspecific events.
Mind is defiant.
“Why should I disappear?”
“ What else is so interesting?”
I stop the body and the mind.
I look around.
Gentle crisp autumn sunlight is filtering through the tall pine trees.
Wind and swirling leaves are playing with each other as best friends and then gently laying them on the forest floor.
Ripe acorns are dropping.
Occasional woodpecker with hungry stomach is pecking on dead trees.
Flock of Bluejays are chirping, in pure jungle air.
And the mind was saying, just a moment ago –
“What else is so interesting?”
I know why.
Because, in these quiet moments of NOW, the mind loses its existence.
Godliness is doing everything.
Mind is redundant in NOW.
Dropping the mind, I choose Him and joyously join the song of life.
Every moment is His song.
Every moment is our chance to light up the lamp and connect with Him.
Diwali need not be a yearly event.
You can celebrate every moment by immersing in each moment.
Mind is our darkness.
And
No-mindness is His light.
